Discover Lebanon

The ancient cities of Baalbek and Byblos, Sidon and Tyre on the coast, pristine mountains and spectacular gorges distinguish Lebanon as a good destination within the Middle East. Here we present two short trips to the country, also known as the “Switzerland of the Middle East”.

Day 1: Beirut
Arrival at Beirut airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Beirut – Beit Ed Dine – Deir El Kamar
We start the day in the National Museum, containing superb colossie, sarcophagi and mosaics from the 1st and 2nd millennium BC up to the Roman and Byzantine period. We walk along the Corniche, see the new city center with the Place de l’Etoile and Martyr’s Square as well as Achrafieh with its beautiful villas. We continue to the Beit Ed Dine Palace, an architectural masterpiece of the 19th century. Via Deir El Kamar, a picturesque little town and one of the best preserved examples of 17th and 18th century provincial architecture in the country, return to the hotel in Beirut.

Day 3: Beirut - Tripoli - Byblos - Beirut
We drive north along the coast to Tripoli, 85 km from Beirut. Lebanon’s second largest city has its own character regarding the customs and traditions. It is famous for the traditional manufacturing of olive soap and for sweets. After a stroll through the old suqs we head for Byblos, whose history goes back some 4000 years. We visit the Crusader Castle and other archaeological sites. Then you have time for leisure to discover the city wandering around its tiny port, or to relax on one of the terraces overlooking the port. Back to Beirut.

Day 4: Beirut - Baalbek - Anjar - Ksara - Beirut
We drive to the magnificent city of Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley. Its acropolis is one of the largest in the world and you find here the marvelous Temple of Bacchus, Jupiter and Venus. We go on to the mysterious Umayyad site in Anjar, and Ksara, home to traditional wine-makers, for tasting and a visit of old caves. Return to Beirut for overnight.

Day 5: Beirut
Transfer to the airport and fly back home
