You find plenty of holy sites, shrines and tombs in Jordan. Many prophets mentioned in the Old Testament, Bible and Quran lived in Jordan or traveled through the land. Here are some places you can visit for worshiping:
Prophet Moses (Musa)/Mount Nebo: Before his death Musa looked from the summit of Mount Nebo over the Jordan River towards Palestine. He is buried on the mountain, but his tomb is not marked.
Prophet Noah (Nuh)/Kerak: As God was so disappointed about the evil mankind he decided to destroy them through a flood. But he rescued Noah by let him build the Ark for his family and they survived the flood. The tomb of the prophet is located near Kerak.
Prophet Lot (Lut)/Dead Sea: Before punishing the sinful cities Sodom and Gomorrah God warned Lot and his family to leave the town. After that Lot lived with his daughters in this cave near the Dead Sea.
Prophet Joshua (Yusha)/Salt: Within a mosque, west of Salt, the shrine of Prophet Joshua is located. He was the successor of Prophet Moses and commander of the Israeli conquest.
Prophet Hud/Jerash: Not far from Jerash on a hill you can visit the shrine of Prophet Hud within a modern mosque. Hud warned the people to worship God and not idols. But the people didn’t listen, so God destroyed them. Only Hud and his followers survived.
Prophet Aaron (Haroun)/Petra: On top of Jebel Haroun (1396 m) in the Petra area you find a mosque, where it is believed, Prophet Haroun, brother of Prophet Musa is buried.
The Cave of the Seven Sleepers (Kahf Al-Raqim)/Amman: This cave is located near the village Al-Raqim, 10 km east of Amman. A group of pious youths took refuge in this cave because of religious persecution. To preserve them, God put them to sleep for 309 years as Christianity was widespread. At the cave you find Byzantine and Roman ruins and a mosque.
Abu Ubaida Mosque/Jordan Valley: Abu Ubaida Amer bin Al-Jarrah was one of Prophet Mohammad's relatives and one of the Blessed Ten, to whom Mohammad promised paradise. In the central Jordan Valley you find his tomb, a mosque and a cultural center.
